Yvonne Strahovski to be the face of the series “Woman of Intelligence” for UCP

EXCLUSIVE: Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale, Statelessness) is set to play the lead role and be an executive producer of the series adaptation An intelligent woman, based on the bestselling novel by Karin Tanabe. UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is developing the project with Anovi Peak Productions Strahovski. A platform has not yet been determined.

Tom Bidwell (The Irregulars, My Crazy Fat Diary) serves as writer and executive producer.

In the series, overwhelmed by the hardships and loneliness of motherhood, a 1950s housewife (Strahovski) finds a way to rediscover herself when the FBI asks her to infiltrate the KGB. But soon, what started out as a good way to quickly take care of her children turns into a nightmare and she realizes that the future of her family and the fate of the Western world are in her hands.

Nina Tassler, Joan Boorstein, Mel McKeon and Laura Myones will also executive produce for AFA/Prime Talent Media.

Strahovski was nominated for two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for her role as Serena Joy Waterford in the Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale. She was named Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 2022 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards for her lead role in the Netflix psychological drama Statelesswhich premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. Her other television credits include Fox 24: Live Another DayShowtime DexterNBC Smacking and ABC Astronaut Wives Club.

On the film front, Strahovski starred opposite Chris Pratt in the Skydance/Amazon time-travel sci-fi film, Tomorrow’s War. Other roles in the film include: My Angel, Manhattan Night, Elite Assassin AND The Guilt Journey.
