Steph Curry Joins LeBron James and Kevin Durant on NBA’s Historic List

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Thursday that Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has signed a one-year contract extension worth $62.6 million.

The contract extension keeps Curry in Golden State through the 2026-27 season. While there was some speculation whether Curry would use his extension eligibility as leverage against the Warriors to build a more competitive roster around him, the four-time NBA champion decided to sign this offer, which puts him in historic company.

Following the news of Curry’s contract extension, ESPN’s Bobby Marks revealed that the Warriors point guard joins Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant as the third player in league history to surpass $500 million in career earnings.

James, Curry, and Durant are widely considered the three best players of this generation, so it’s only right that they’re on this list. Teammates at the 2024 Paris Olympics, this trio helped Team USA win the gold medal.

Curry and Durant played together from 2016-19, winning back-to-back NBA championships against James’ Cleveland Cavaliers. The three players showed off in Paris over the summer and will return to their Pacific Division teams for the 2024-25 season.

For Curry, the contract extension is another sign of his loyalty to Golden State, even if there is uncertainty about the team’s direction.
