UAF Launches Energy Resources Engineering Degree Program

For the past two years, CEM faculty have been developing the program based on student feedback, industry analysis and input from UAF’s Alaska Energy and Power Engineering Center.

The program includes a curriculum that combines courses in conventional and renewable energy production. It is designed to prepare students with the skills necessary to meet Alaska’s diverse energy needs and play a significant role in the global energy transformation.

The program includes hands-on experience in energy drilling, geothermal and petroleum production, renewable energy systems, energy resource economics, and carbon capture. Courses are designed for students interested in careers in the energy industry, both in traditional sectors such as oil and gas and emerging areas such as hydrogen, hydropower, wind, solar, and nuclear.
