Record transfers are changing the face of European football

English Premier League clubs have once again demonstrated their financial strength, spending an estimated $2.6 billion in the recently concluded summer transfer window on matches in Europe’s top five leagues.

Chelsea, owned by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, have spearheaded the movement, spending $290 million in the hope of making it a success at Stamford Bridge.

The extended window for the Saudi Pro League allows time for more deals, such as the one that saw striker Ivan Toney join Al-Ahli for $52 million. Other notable transfers include Raheem Sterling joining Arsenal on loan, and several notable acquisitions by major European clubs, including Kylian Mbappé’s high-profile move to Real Madrid.
