Sunday Starts: Houston Shocks LAFC, Portland Wins Big Over Seattle

All it took was one unexpected moment for the Timbers to pull off a huge victory. Juan Mosquera fired a shot from outside the 18 that bounced off Nouhou and into the net. And that was it. Seattle, even with Pedro de la Vega in the starting lineup, couldn’t break through.

It’s hard to imagine a more depressing losing streak for Seattle. After losing to LAFC in the Leagues Cup, they fell short in the US Open Cup against LAFC and lost to their biggest rival. Now Columbus awaits them on Saturday.

When it comes to Portland, man, it’s hard to think of them as anything other than one of the best teams in the league right now. They’re definitely Tier Two to me. They’ve had the same record as Seattle this year, but they’re a lot more dynamic and dangerous with the ball. They’re probably a little too far behind to get to fourth right now, but they’re a sure-fire playoff team if they don’t fall. When they get there, absolutely no one wants to play them.
