JK Dobbins’ X-Factor with Chargers

The 25-year-old running back played in 24 games over the past four seasons in Baltimore. He rushed for 1,347 yards and 12 touchdowns over the past two seasons while battling injuries.

Still, Dobbins has averaged 5.8 yards per rush since 2020, which is the most of any NFL running back (minimum 200 rushing attempts) during that span, and has shown the explosiveness Solak mentioned during camp.

If the veteran quarterback can stay in good shape, Solak believes it could be a game-changer for the Chargers offense.

Dobbins has played in nine games over the past three seasons. A torn ACL sidelined him for all of 2021 and carried over into 2022; a torn Achilles tendon last season came in the opener. There are questions about his availability, as well as his explosiveness after so many injuries. But if he can bounce back from those tough times and even handle a decent amount of carries in this offense, he’ll make the Roman/Harbaugh run game that much more likely.
