343 nurse midwives posted in hospitals in Telangana

Hyderabad:The state government has authorized the employment of 343 Nurse Practitioners of Midwifery (NPM) in government hospitals on work orders. Out of the 354 trained NPMs, seven were posted in Gurukul schools under the education department, one in Khammam expired and three were trained as midwifery educators.

NPMs will be displayed in facilities that have more than 50-100 deliveries per month to help them showcase their experience in managing normal deliveries. It should also be ensured that each facility has at least three NPMs, depending on the number of deliveries.

In addition, the government has approved the recruitment of 22 midwifery educators (MEs) in two State Midwifery Training Institutes (SMTIs) located in the Government Nursing Colleges in Somajiguda and Rajanna Siricilla and a National Midwifery Training Institute (NMTI) in the Government Nursing College in Boyiguda.

NPMs performing night shifts are also entitled to night shift allowance as per the norms and awarded to other nurses. The appointment of NPMs and MEs is made solely on the basis of a work order and will be effective from Wednesday.
