Hy-Vee Simplifies Ordering with Delivery App and Curbside Pickup

September 3, 2024 NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Deliverect, a leading global food technology SaaS company, today announced a partnership with Hy-Vee BB #:101759 to support the retailer’s growth and expansion of digital food ordering.

By integrating Deliverect with each of Hy-Vee’s Fast and Fresh Market Grille Express stations to streamline ordering and manage an aggregated menu, Hy-Vee can provide an exceptional customer experience by preparing orders quickly and efficiently. Hy-Vee also leverages Deliverect analytics to make data-driven decisions about menu offerings and inventory.

Designed to meet the changing needs of today’s time-poor consumers, Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh stores – with 190 locations throughout the Midwest – combine convenience and quality to deliver an exceptional experience for those on the go. Automating the order creation process with Deliverect eliminates manual order entry for meals and snacks, freeing up staff to focus on preparing high-quality meals.

The convenience store sector is undergoing a significant transformation, seizing the opportunity to capture a larger share of the U.S. food market.

According to the National Association of Convenience Stores, the foodservice category — which includes prepared foods, commissary and hot beverages — now accounts for 26.9% of store sales. As convenience stores increasingly enter the food ordering space, delivery apps are becoming essential to meeting consumer demand.

“Convenience stores are at an exciting time as they begin to play alongside restaurants in the food delivery arena, and technology is essential to making this transition a success,” said Noah Hayes, vice president, Americas, Deliverect. “The Deliverect suite of solutions is designed to enable food service companies to streamline their operations and provide a seamless experience for their customers.”

Hy-Vee began working with Deliverect in January 2024, testing a custom integration across all store locations. The entire project, from start to finish, took just three months. Hy-Vee’s Fast & Fresh app was built to leverage Deliverect’s order management and menus. The app offers a seamless ordering experience—similar to popular platforms like Uber Eats and DoorDash. Deliverect also developed a custom curbside notification solution, significantly increasing customer convenience and operational efficiency across each convenience store location.

“As a convenience-driven brand, it’s critical that we meet our busy customers where they are,” said Jennifer Lambert, senior vice president of IT strategy and planning at Hy-Vee. “Deliverect’s innovative solutions have significantly increased the speed of our curbside pickup service while providing us with key insights to keep our operations running smoothly and our customers happy. We can’t wait to see how this partnership evolves in the future.”
