Former Lucid and Tesla Legal Leader Joins Gene Therapy Startup with IPO Ambitions

Cellares, a pioneer in cancer-fighting cell therapies, has hired a key figure from the electric vehicle industry as its chief legal officer as the five-year-old company accelerates the commercialization of its technology.

The South San Francisco, California-based company announced Tuesday the appointment of Jonathan Butler as general counsel. Butler spent most of four years at Lucid Motors, primarily as general counsel, and played a key role in helping the company go public via a SPAC merger in 2021.
