Juventus save Aston Villa from losing 10 points with Douglas Luiz signing

Juventus signed Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa this summer, one of the first signings under Thiago Motta.

The Bianconeri have planned a major operation to improve their squad for the duration of the transfer window and had several names on their shopping list.

Luiz was one of the players they wanted to sign, but Juve could take their time and make an offer for him later in the summer.

To everyone’s surprise, the transfer was finalized in June, while the midfielder was still on the Brazilian national team’s training camp for the 2024 Copa America.

It has now been revealed that Villa were pushing for the transfer as they looked to complete the move in line with Premier League spending rules.
