Police spot drone on flight path at Vancouver airport

Over the past two days, someone has been flying a drone over Vancouver Airport, prompting a public safety alert from police.

The man was flying a drone at an altitude of 3,500 feet, the Delta Police Department reported Wednesday.

“This is illegal, extremely dangerous and poses a serious risk to the safety of passengers, airline crews and those on the ground,” the social media post reads.

Authorities said they are investigating the consecutive incidents and will file criminal charges if a suspect is identified.

“Flying drones in restricted airspace poses a significant threat to aviation and could have catastrophic consequences,” the department said in a statement.
