Uninsured Arizonans Can Still Get Free COVID-19 Vaccines; Here’s How

PHOENIX (AZ family) — While millions of Americans will have to pay for COVID-19 vaccines if they are uninsured, Arizonans will remain covered through a state program.

About 25 million Americans without health insurance will have to pay up to $200 for vaccines as the CDC’s Bridge Access program, a federal program that covers vaccines for the uninsured and underinsured, runs out of funding.

Earlier this year, federal lawmakers withdrew $6.1 billion in COVID-19 relief funding as part of a deal to avoid a government shutdown.

As a result, the Arizona Department of Health (ADHS) is resuming its COVID-19 mobile vaccination program to ensure appropriate and affordable access to health care that can save lives.

The program will be implemented in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure access to vaccinations for uninsured and underinsured Arizonans after the federal program ends in August.

This means Arizona residents can access vaccines for free by hosting vaccination sites in communities that request one.

“ADHS remains diligent in responding to the health needs of Arizonans by reaching out to community members and meeting them where they are. This program partnership is a testament to how the federal and state governments and the private sector are working together to prioritize public health care access,” said Jessica Barbosa, Health Equity Program Manager at ADHS.

You can schedule an appointment for the mobile clinic or at-home vaccination by emailing [email protected] or completing the online form.
