Media talent discovery app Husslup launches Greenlight Studio, which it hopes will become new United Artists (EXCLUSIVE)

Media talent discovery app Husslup has launched a new “Greenlight Studio” that uses “ethical gen-AI” to help freelancers create and sell content. The first tool in the studio, “Full Script Assessment,” will launch this week.

The platform is also using AI to launch an intelligent content marketplace that it says will “make it easier for producers, financiers, executives, and agents to discover new projects efficiently and quickly.”

Husslup founder H Schuster likens Greenlight Studio to the rise of artist-run studio United Artists a century ago. That’s because as part of the launch, Husslup members will have the opportunity to invest in a new round and help transform it into a community-owned studio. This round of funding is being kicked off by Vitalize Angels from Vitalize Venture Capital, an investment group led by founder/managing partner Gale Wilkinson.

Husslup, which went from an invite-only beta phase to a public launch of its service earlier this year, lets media industry users find above- and below-the-line freelancers to hire. Husslup offers a network of nearly 10,000 freelancers, as well as staff workflow management tools and a new workforce demographics report for companies to meet their diversity goals.

Through its investment vehicle, Husslup members, consisting of independent producers, writers and other creators, will be able to invest in the company.

“A hundred years ago, at the dawn of feature films, a few big studios controlled the industry through a system of contacts,” said CEO and founder Husslup H Schuster. “But in 1919 Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and DW Griffith decided to form United Artists, a studio owned by talented artists, to break free from that draconian system. And by the 1930s, United Artists was distributing in 40 countries.”

Wilkinson added: “A century later, the entertainment industry is at a similar inflection point. A few vertically integrated companies control Hollywood, and freelancers need to democratize the creative process. Greenlight Studio was designed to do just that.”

Greenlight Studios’ first tool, “Full Script Assessments,” is meant to allow “both freelancers and executives to analyze a script, as well as offer suggestions for improvement, marketing assessment, pitching, and episode bible suggestions.”

Among the users was Haley Lozitsky, executive vice president of Sad Clown Productions Mayim Bialik: “The almost immediate discussion of the script and assessment of the market opportunity for the project we were working on was spot on.”

Husslup said the AI “uses WGA guidelines and does not use creator content to train large language models. These tools are not designed to replace creative talent. Instead, they help improve the creative process at an affordable price.”

Next up will be “Elevator Pitch Coach,” which he says “offers a detailed assessment of video pitches so creatives can fine-tune their presentation before they even enter the room.” Husslup plans to release three more creative tools and a content marketplace this year.
