The three-day conference will be held for the first time in Doha, at the Qatar National Convention Center.

Qatar is set to launch its first construction technology exhibition this month. The Qatar Advance Technology in Construction and Services Exhibition, also known as CONTEQ Expo 24, will be held at the Qatar National Convention Center from September 16 to 18.

The three-day conference, the first of its kind in the Gulf state, will be held under the patronage of Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

“ConteQ Expo 24 will host participants from 24 countries, over 60 speakers, 250 exhibitors and partners, including global technology giants such as Google, Microsoft, Siemens, Huawei and IBM,” said Salem Al-Shawi, chairman of the conference organizing committee.

The conference is a joint venture of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOCI), the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Ministry of Labor (MOL) and the Public Works Office (Ashghal).

During a press conference held at the Ned Hotel in Doha on Thursday, spokespeople for the organisers revealed exciting details about what to expect at CONTEQ Expo 24.

What to expect

According to Al-Shawi, who is also the director of the technical office in Ashghal, 15,000 guests are expected to attend the conference. A total of 14 memoranda of understanding are also expected to be signed at the conference.

Exhibitors included 12 3D printing companies, 16 BIM and digital twin companies, 8 robotics companies, 6 modular and prefabrication companies, 9 drone technology companies and 13 IT and cybersecurity companies.

Al-Shawi discussed in detail the main themes of ConteQ Expo 24: “innovative construction technologies, service technologies, and rules and regulations.”

“Hosting the exhibition reaffirms our commitment to implementing the latest technological innovations in the advanced construction sector, which enhances efficiency, sustainability and public-private partnerships, contributing to the achievement of the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030, the final phase of the Qatar National Vision 2030,” he added.

The conference organizers also announced the winners of the competition to design the official mascot of the exhibition, which was announced in May last year in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and Higher Education.

Third place went to Hassan Bin Thabit High School for Boys, second place went to Umm Ayman High School for Girls, and first place went to Ahmad Bin Hanbal High School for Boys.

“The app includes customizable dashboards, an AI-powered business matchmaking service, and services that allow attendees to manage meetings, view conference schedules, and more,” Ashgal said.

The construction and services sectors in Qatar are among the most important sectors of the country’s economy, recording significant growth in recent years, according to data

“The participation of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, as well as its subordinate agencies such as the Qatar Investment Promotion Agency, Qatar Free Zones Authority and Qatar Financial Centre in the exhibition reflects its commitment to strengthening cooperation and joint activities of government entities in order to use modern technologies and introduce digital transformation in various sectors of the country,” Al-Nasr said.

“As a key participant at ConteQ Expo 2024 in Qatar, we look forward to showcasing our significant contribution in our company pavilion, which will feature models demonstrating how we use modular construction, as well as the largest 3D printer of its kind,” said Mousa Naber, UCC COO, during a press conference.

Dr. Noura al-Hajri, Director of the Planning, Quality and Innovation Department at MOL, discussed the key technological elements of the ministry’s digital transformation, highlighting the many digitalized public services.
