Trump Campaign Florida Offices Evacuated in Amazon-Sold Hoax

Former president Donald Trump campaign offices in West Palm Beach, Florida, were evacuated after hearing what was soon revealed to be a hoax.

A “suspicious incident” at the Republican National Committee’s offices in West Palm Beach last Thursday prompted the evacuation of employees, “New York Times” White House Correspondent Maggie Haberman reported.

When this happened, the police intervened after receiving a report of beeping noises under an employee’s desk.

According to a West Palm Beach police report, three “chirp devices” were found under desks on Aug. 29.

Employees were then concerned that the two-inch gadgets were listening devices. Out of caution, police said nearly 50 people were evacuated.

“POTENTIAL EVIEWING DEVICES FOUND // BEEPING AUDIBLE AT DESK // INTERNAL SECURITY ALSO DETECTED DEVICE,” the report stated.

The document also states that the person who called the police “BELIEVES THEY FOUND ‘PLUSH BLUETOOTHES’ IN THE OFFICE.”

However, the police report clarified that it was a prank and not an act of espionage.

The device found is a plastic listening device called AnnoyingPCB, which can be purchased for less than $14 on Amazon.

“ONE DEVICE, UNLIMITED CHAOS: AnnoyingPCB is the ultimate prank gift or revenge,” the device’s product description reads. “Simply activate the noise maker and hide it. It will squeak, chirp, or make cricket sounds at random intervals from 5 to 45 minutes. The perfect April Fools’ joke for your friends or coworkers!”

“COMPACT & LIGHTWEIGHT: This super small annoying sound device can be easily hidden in most places,” the description says. “This little sonic joke is inconspicuous and hard to find. It’s light enough that a third-party tape or magnet can hold it in place.”

The report said security officials reported the incident as a “joke.”

West Palm Beach police officials said it has not been confirmed who placed the devices in the office.
