Police pull over driver for speeding 112 km/h in Vancouver school zone

About two dozen drivers were caught in a speed camera outside a Vancouver elementary school on Thursday as students were returning to their daily classes.

According to a social media post by the Vancouver Police Traffic Division, the speeding drivers were stopped near 16th Avenue and Camosun Street, in the area of Queen Elizabeth Elementary School.

The measurement showed that one of the drivers was driving at 112 km/h in a zone with a speed limit of 40 km/h, which is almost three times the speed limit.

The driver was issued a $368 ticket for speeding – defined as driving at least 25 mph (41 km/h) too fast – and his vehicle was towed to a police impound lot.

A photo of the ticket provided by the VPD shows that the driver’s yellow and blue car is a Ford station wagon.
