Jalen Ramsey and Dolphins agree to three-year extension

Jalen Ramsey once again found himself at the top of the cornerback list.

According to multiple reports, Ramsey has agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension that would make him the highest-paid cornerback in the league.

Initial reports indicate that Ramsey’s contract is worth $72.3 million, with $55.3 million guaranteed.

Ramsey, 29, had the 2024 and 2025 seasons remaining on his contract. His $24.1 million per year exceeds the $24 million per year extension Patrick Surtain II agreed to with the Broncos earlier this week.

The Dolphins acquired Ramsey from the Rams in March 2023. After missing the season with a knee injury, he appeared in 10 games for Miami last season, recording five passes defensed and three interceptions and was named to the Pro Bowl for the seventh time.

Ramsey made the Pro Bowl every season after his rookie year. He is also a three-time All-Pro and won Super Bowl LVI with Los Angeles.

In 118 career games, he recorded 97 passes defensed and 22 interceptions.

Ramsey is dealing with a hamstring injury and hasn’t practiced this week. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Ramsey’s contract extension was agreed to a few days ago. But Ramsey wanted to get back on the practice field before that news was made public — meaning he’ll likely be back on the field for Friday’s practice and Sunday’s season opener against Jacksonville.
