Presidents of the United Arab Emirates and the Democratic Republic of Congo discuss strengthening bilateral relations

ABU DHABI, September 6, 2024 (WAM) — The President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, today met with His Excellency Felix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), who is on a working visit to the UAE.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and collaboration in various fields aimed at promoting development and prosperity in both countries.

During the meeting, held at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, His Highness welcomed President Tshisekedi’s visit and expressed hope that it would further strengthen relations between the two countries for the good of their peoples. He also conveyed his wishes for continued peace, prosperity and growth for the Democratic Republic of Congo and its people.

The two leaders explored opportunities to expand cooperation in various sectors, especially development, economy, trade and investment, renewable energy and other important areas that support the sustainable development of both nations.

They also discussed several issues of common interest and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.

His Highness reaffirmed the United Arab Emirates’ commitment to strengthening cooperation with African countries in a way that advances their common interests and promotes development, stability and prosperity across the continent for the good of all.

President Felix Tshisekedi paid tribute to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, praising the United Arab Emirates’ cooperation with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the country’s humanitarian and development initiatives in Africa, as well as its efforts to provide relief to crisis-hit communities around the world.

The ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed, Deputy Chief Justice of the Presidential Court for Special Cases; Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Cases at the Presidential Court and the delegation accompanying the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
