When I spoke to Victoria Justice last year about the things she can’t live without, she was so enthusiastic about Madewell’s Harlow pants that I bought a black pair for myself. Then I liked them so much that shortly afterward, I bought another pair in camel. I’ve worn them through frigid winter nights and sweltering summer days, but they’ve also proven to be the perfect transitional staple. Just yesterday, I wore them to grab drinks with friends and was remembered how nice-looking and effortless they are. The high waist lengthens my petite frame and the linen-cotton blend is breezy but still put together. I actually have the olive green Faded Ivy ones in my cart as I’m typing this, because they’re perfect for fall and currently 40 percent off — along with all the other colorways, including warm, umbery Acorn and ivory Harvest Moon — bringing the usual price of $118 down to just $71. (It’s worth noting too that we rarely see the whole range discounted: The last time these pants were on sale, only the navy and khaki versions were marked down.) While there are plenty of deals to scope out at Madewell’s fall sale, I highly recommend you start with the Harlows. The only regret I had after buying them the first time was not getting more colors.
