Sizemore appointed to lead MVNU alumni relations

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Nazarene University President Carson Castleman has announced the appointment of Cindy Sizemore as the new executive director of alumni relations and presidents’ circle.

“I am thrilled that Dr. Cindy Sizemore will assume the position of Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Presidential Circle,” said Castleman. “As an early MVNU alumna, Dr. Sizemore brings a deep understanding and passion for our university and its alumni.

“I am confident that he will do an excellent job of building bonds and strengthening relationships among our graduates.”

Sizemore, a 1974 graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene College, previously served as director of development and will replace Mike Cheek (’82), who is transitioning to a full-time position as executive director of major gifts in the Office of Development.

In her new position, Sizemore will oversee all alumni programs and activities, with an emphasis on developing and strengthening relationships within the MVNU alumni community.

She will be responsible for establishing and overseeing local and regional alumni chapters and developing an effective program to encourage current students to become alumni supporters.

Sizemore will also work with the Director of Admissions to support alumni and Legacy Program recruiting efforts.

She will also work with the Director of Career Services to help connect graduates with those seeking internships or employment.

Additionally, she will visit churches in the East Central Field of the Church of the Nazarene, as well as community-wide gatherings such as the New York General Assembly and the Nazarene National Softball Tournament as a representative of MVNU.

“As an alumnus, MVNU holds a very special place in my heart,” Sizemore said. “I am passionate about supporting others in service as MVNU continues to grow and change lives in our communities because we are called to be a light to the world.

“I love MVNU and the wonderful, invaluable relationships that have been a part of my life for many years,” she said.

“I also want to serve and open up new relationships and opportunities for MVNU.”

She will continue to serve as a development officer, working with donors through the Presidential Circle.

This group is comprised of friends and supportive alumni who have donated $1,000 or more to MVNU during the current or previous fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).

“My heart goes out to be able to give back through our community and financial services here at MVNU,” Sizemore said.

“Philanthropy is another way I can help, including numerous scholarship fundraising opportunities, by sharing the importance of giving to the President’s Circle.”

Sizemore and her husband of 41 years, Greg, live in Glendale, Ohio.

Greg is an attorney, business owner, and enjoys teaching law and leadership at the university level.

Their son, Nathaniel, is a lawyer and entrepreneur in the family business. He is also in the process of publishing his second book. He and his wife, Erin, who is a district court judge, live in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, with their three children, Elizabeth, Charlotte Grace, and William.

Alumni are invited to meet Sizemore at Homecoming, Nov. 8-10, or at various alumni events throughout the year. For more details, visit mvnu.edu/alumni/events-and-activities.
