World’s largest hackathon at T-Hub, Hyderabad, with over 2000 participants

HYDERABAD: Over 2,000 participants took part in the 36-hour hackathon called MATHack 2.0, considered to be the world’s largest hackathon, which was held at T-Hub on Thursday. Organised by AI Summit ecosystem partner MATH, along with Idealabs, HYSEA and Talent Farms, the event saw 40 teams (around 150 participants) qualifying for the final rounds.

The winners were two urban start-ups and a team of students.

The winners, Flatmates AP, received a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh for their innovative app that helps users find apartments for rent.

Explaining the concept, co-founder D Nithin said that the idea is to build a scalable platform where users can search for roommates or flatmates based on their specific preferences and for this purpose, they will leverage AI technology.

“In today’s world, finding a roommate is fine. But finding your preferred roommate is difficult. There is no such platform or very few are creating it. So the idea is basically that you give your preference through an AI tool and the other person will also give their preference and the algorithm will run with it and make a recommendation for you so that you can chat with them on the platform,” he told TNIE.

Another team member added: “Choices are preferences that we wanted to focus on. For example, I’m sociable, I’m a vegetarian, I don’t want anyone smoking in my room. So we want to extend those benefits to users.”

City-based startup Salubrity Health, which won Rs 3 lakh, offers AI-based hair care with the help of a trichologist and a dietician. Their system includes two AI bots to track nutrition and treat hair loss.

Dr BS Hema Bindu, a cardiologist, told TNIE, “Our solution focuses on identifying the root causes of hair loss, such as stress and nutrient deficiencies.”
