Canucks hire new Rinkside reporter

Vancouver, British Columbia – The Vancouver Canucks today announced the addition of new Rinkside Reporter, Olivia McDonald. McDonald joins the organization’s content team, which also includes Senior Hockey Writer Chris Faber and Editor Lindsey Horsting.

Born and raised in Kamloops BC, McDonald was destined to be a Canucks fan. Although she left British Columbia at 18, it was only to fulfill her dream of becoming a Rinkside Reporter with the Canucks always at the back of her mind.

McDonald, a graduate of the Canucks’ Top Prospects program, earned a degree in broadcast journalism from Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta, before returning to British Columbia for her first job in television. She spent time in Prince George, British Columbia, as a reporter/anchor for CKPG News.

Post-pandemic, McDonald has served as a television presenter/digital producer for the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers and the NLL’s Calgary Roughnecks, and has also become an in-game host for the Calgary Flames. In her new role with the Canucks, McDonald will deliver exclusive, behind-the-scenes content that brings fans closer to the action, connecting them with their favorite Canucks players and personalities.

Faber returns to the Canucks for a second season as senior hockey writer. After serving as senior writer and senior content creator for CanucksArmy, covering the Canucks, he joined the organization in November 2023.

His passion for storytelling through writing, both about the Canucks and their prospects, helps him create compelling content for Canucks.com and contributes to the “Canucks Insider,” providing fans with exclusive insight into the lives of the team’s players, management and prospects.

Horsting also returns as a contributing editor to Canucks Sports & Entertainment, continuing to write for Canucks.com as part of the “Canucks Insider” and for the Vancouver Warriors after joining the team in June 2023.

After working for Rogers Sports & Media as a broadcaster on Sportsnet 650 and as a sideline reporter for the Vancouver Bandits of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), she joined the Canucks and Warriors, where she focused on storytelling and writing about the Canucks’ NHL and AHL players, college, junior and European prospects, as well as creating content for and through the players.
