Prime Minister Narendra Modi said efforts are being made to recognise talented teachers using innovative methods, while making it clear that he will not talk about what happened earlier.

Talking to teachers who were conferred with National Teachers’ Awards, he said that they can prepare young students for ‘Viksit Bharat’.

The interaction took place on Friday and the video was released on Saturday.

Modi suggested that teachers could involve students in the process of selecting the top 100 tourist destinations in the country, encouraging them to learn about different places they could visit on educational trips.

The awarded teachers were selected after a long process as their efforts can prove useful in implementing the new National Education Policy (NEP), Modi said, noting that many others will go on to do excellent work.

He told teachers to take their students to nearby universities and watch sporting events there because such an experience can spark their dreams.

As many as 82 teachers from across the country were selected for the award. Among them were 50 teachers from the Department of School Education & Literacy, 16 from the Department of Higher Education and 16 from the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, an official statement said.

Modi suggested that the award-winning teachers connect with each other through social media and share best practices so that everyone can learn, adapt and benefit.

He emphasised the impact of the NEP and spoke about the importance of acquiring education in one’s mother tongue.

The Prime Minister suggested that teachers teach their students local folklore in different languages. This way, students will learn multiple languages ​​and also get to know the living culture of India.
