Stellantis Recalls More Than 1.2 Million Ram 1500 Pickup Trucks in the U.S.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a recall for 1,227,808 2019 and 2021-2024 Ram 1500 vehicles in the U.S. manufactured by Chrysler-owned Stellantis due to a software failure.

Stellantis is recalling 1,227,808 2019, 2021-2024 Ram 1500 vehicles. The recall report says a software failure could cause the control module to disable the electronic stability control (ABS). If a driver drives the vehicle with the electronic stability control disabled, it could increase the risk of a crash, the report said.

In addition, the automotive company announced the recall of 7,299 MOPAR ABS systems that were used as replacement parts in the vehicles affected by the recall.

“FCA is not aware of any related injuries or accidents,” Frank Matyok, a Stellantis spokesman, told USA TODAY in a statement. “As required by law, affected customers will be notified via first-class mail. The company urges customers to follow the instructions in that letter.”

NHTSA found that the Ram 1500 “does not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 126, ‘Electronic Stability Control Systems.'”

To resolve this issue, dealers will update the ABS control module software. This service will be performed at no charge. Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed on October 3. Owners can contact FCA US, LLC Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403. The FCA US, LLC number for this recall is 85B.

Vehicles affected by the recall:

  • 2019 Ram 1500

  • 2021-2024 Ram 1500

Matyok said additional Ram 1500 models will be recalled in the following countries:
