Officers shoot, kill armed man trying to break into apartment in northwest Dallas

Dallas police officers shot and killed an armed man trying to break into a northwest Dallas apartment, police said Saturday.

A Dallas police news release said at about 8:20 pm, officers responded to the 3100 block of Norwalk Avenue, near Webb Chapel Extension. An online police call log showed about 15 units responding to an assist officer call with ambulance.

Preliminary investigation showed that when officers arrived, they gave verbal commands to the man who then produced a gun. Officers fired their weapons and the man was pronounced dead on scene, police said.

No officers were injured in the incident, police said.
