No. 25 Clemson football team sets record with home opener win over App State

CLEMSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – On Saturday, the Clemson football team scored the most first-half points in Tigers history against Appalachian State with 56 points in a 66-20 victory.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik scored seven touchdowns in the first half.

In all, Klubnik completed 24-of-26 passes for 378 yards and five touchdowns, and also scored a rushing touchdown on both attempts.

In the first quarter, veteran quarterback Phil Mafah scored an 83-yard touchdown to give Clemson a 21-0 lead just eight minutes into the game.

The Tigers also set a school record for first-quarter points with 35, tying the school record for points scored in any quarter.

Clemson Football is rebounding from a Week 1 loss to No. 1 Georgia 34-3.

The Tigers will then have a week off before hosting No. 24 NC State on Sept. 21.
