9-1-1 Season 8 Teaser on ABC

Los Angeles is well on its way to a full-on “Wicker Man” with the first trailer for “9-1-1” Season 8. The upcoming installment — as well as its three-part bee-themed opener — will premiere on ABC on Sept. 26. New episodes will be available to stream the next day on Hulu and Disney+

So far, the “9-1-1” team has dealt with a tsunami, earthquakes, floods and a bouncy castle that flew away. But this time, their natural enemy is 22 million killer bees. The 30-second trailer, set to Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight,” begins with Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) answering a 9-1-1 call. The camera then immediately cuts to a truck carrying a load of crates exploding.

“That truck was carrying 22 million killer bees,” another dispatcher told Maddie.

“Enough bees to kill…?” he asks.

“Forty-four thousand people.”

As this version of “In the Air Tonight” gets increasingly frantic, the camera pans to people frantically punching each other in the face. At one point, it follows Eddie (Ryan Guzman), who reserves it for life. “This is bee-wagging,” Buck (Oliver Stark), ever the wordsmith, declares. Watch the full trailer below:

The upcoming season will pick up after the events of Season 7, with Captain Vincent Gerrard (Brian Thompson) as the new Bobby (Peter Krause). While Bobby tries to adjust to life in retirement by consulting on a TV show, the rest of the fire department is forced to cope with this new leader. Meanwhile, he and Athena (Angela Bassett) must find a new home after their old one burns down, and Maddie and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) try to keep Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Karen (Tracie Thoms) in the life of their adoptive daughter, Mary.

“9-1-1” originally aired on Fox before the network canceled it in May 2023. ABC quickly stepped in to save the day, and this first season on the new network achieved the largest multi-platform audience of any ABC premiere in 2023-2024 in a single month of viewing, with 13.47 million total viewers.

EW first reported the story.
