The Washington Post is changing the look of its home page in a bid to change

The Washington Post is trying to solve one of its biggest problems: an outdated home page that its editorial staff hates.

The facelift is a key aspect of Post publisher and CEO Will Lewis’ plan to turn around the publication’s fortunes on behalf of owner Jeff Bezos. The Post is expected to lose about $50 million this year, an improvement from last year’s loss of $77 million but still a letdown.

Lewis is under pressure to win back paying subscribers and return the Post to profitability, something he says he is making progress on. In his weekly memorandum to Post employees Friday evening, Lewis called the updated homepage an important step forward.
