Packaging Speak Out 2024 in Vietnam equips young talents with design skills

SCGP (SCG Packaging Public Co., Ltd.) in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Student Assistant Center (SAC) announced the launch of the Packaging Speak Out 2024 – Vietnam competition.

Open for registration from September 9 to October 24, this innovative competition challenges young designers to create innovative, sustainable packaging solutions under the theme “Packaging for a Brighter Future.” With several groundbreaking innovations in its format and activities, this year’s competition emphasizes sustainable design, helping participants stay ahead of industry trends while increasing brand and product value, especially in the rapidly growing e-commerce market.

By encouraging participants to think outside the box, SCGP reaffirms its commitment to nurturing new talent and promoting sustainability in the packaging industry, with the aim to inspire a new era of sustainable packaging innovation.

Vietnam’s packaging industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by several key trends that reflect the country’s evolving consumer landscape. Growing demand for premium and convenient products, particularly in the food and beverage sector, underscores the changing preferences and lifestyles of Vietnamese consumers who now value high-quality, aesthetic packaging solutions.

This shift is being further fueled by the rapid growth of e-commerce, which is expected to reach $23.77 billion by 2029, creating an urgent need for durable and visually appealing packaging that enhances the customer experience and ensures product safety during transportation. In addition, urbanization and rising incomes are driving demand for retail-ready packaging, which is key to presenting products in Vietnam’s modernizing retail landscape.

In response to these emerging trends, Packaging Speak Out 2024 – Vietnam offers young designers a platform to learn, create and grow. The competition is designed to meet these industry demands, encouraging participants to develop innovative solutions that are both practical and future-proof.

Motivated by its previous achievements, SCGP is taking the competition to new heights this year. The company has partnered with renowned brands such as Mondelez Kinh Do and Barona – Nam Phuong Food, with the aim of strengthening the bond between students and businesses while nurturing a creative community focused on a brighter future. Packaging Speak Out 2024 – Vietnam fits seamlessly into SCGP’s broader mission of nurturing young talent and promoting sustainable development in the packaging industry. By investing in the creativity and passion of Vietnam’s youth, SCGP believes it is shaping the future of packaging and significantly contributing to a more sustainable and innovative Vietnam.

Under the theme “Packaging for a Brighter Future,” Packaging Speak Out 2024 – Vietnam reflects the company’s commitment to revitalizing Vietnam’s packaging industry through innovation and sustainability. Participants are encouraged to submit packaging designs using paper, plastic or a combination of both, tailored to products from well-known brands such as Mondelez Kinh Do and Barona – Nam Phuong Food, across a variety of categories including sustainable e-commerce packaging, gift sets and marketing displays.

The competition is open to students aged 17 to 25 and is open to all genders and nationalities, provided that applicants are residents of Vietnam and enrolled in a Vietnamese educational institution. Participants can participate individually or in groups of up to three members, which allows for cooperation between different universities.

To recognize and reward outstanding talent and innovation in sustainable packaging design, the competition offers a significant prize pool of VND180 million (USD7,296). This significant prize will be distributed across various categories and special awards, demonstrating SCGP’s commitment to promoting creativity and sustainability in the packaging industry.

The Packaging Speak Out 2024 – Vietnam Seminar will be held on September 21 at HUTECH University. The event will feature a keynote session by renowned packaging design expert Andy Ho, CEO and Creative Director of Bracom Agency, who will discuss the latest packaging trends in Vietnam and their impact on design practices. The seminar will also feature a panel discussion with Juthmart Sayampol, Head of Creative Design Management, Inspired Studio and Packaging Solutions, SCGP, and representatives from Mondelez Kinh Do and Barona – Nam Phuong Food, offering an in-depth look at the changing consumer and market demand for packaging solutions.

Packaging Speak Out 2024 – Vietnam is a significant step towards supporting innovation and sustainability in the Vietnamese packaging industry. The competition will challenge young designers to create cutting-edge solutions and provide them with the knowledge, skills and contacts necessary to thrive in this dynamic field.
