Melbourne to host upcoming Intersect and CyberCon events

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – The Victorian State Government in Australia is set to promote the state’s technology ecosystem by partnering with leading technology conferences Intersekt and CyberCon in 2024.

Intersekt is Australia’s largest fintech event, hosted by FinTech Australia, and will return to Melbourne from Wednesday 18 September 2024 to Thursday 19 September 2024.

Thousands of financial technology, investment and banking professionals from around the world will come together to explore the potential of the Australian market.

On the other hand, CyberCon will return on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 and will run through Thursday, November 28, 2024.

It is the largest cybersecurity conference in the Southern Hemisphere, organised by the Australian Information Security Association.

The event will bring together over 5,000 delegates from around the world to discuss thought leadership, participate in panel sessions and watch live demonstrations.

The theme of the Melbourne conference is “The Future is Now”, reflecting the urgent need to understand, adapt and protect the world’s digital landscape.

CyberCon 2024 will feature keynote speeches from former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez, Designated Survivor actor Kal Penn, and WithSecure Research Director Mikko Hyppönen.

The event will feature over 160 industry leaders from across the globe, including Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Palo Alto, providing attendees with a hands-on experience in cybersecurity.

The Victorian Government is proud to sponsor major events like CyberCon and Intersekt to support the growth of the cyber and fintech sectors.

The government has funded the Cremorne Digital Hub project, which aims to upskill the technology workforce and support entrepreneurship among start-ups.

Additionally, it supports startups through LaunchVic and invests in Victoria’s cybersecurity infrastructure.

The state will also host the first edition of Fintech 50, an extraordinary event during which 50 companies will have 30 seconds to present their ideas to investors.

Victoria is now home to nearly 400 companies employing more than 25,000 people, as well as five fintech unicorns: Airwallex, MYOB, Judo Bank, PEXA and Zeller.
