NYT Small is a quick and dirty version of the larger, longer-running newspaper crossword puzzle. Most days feature three to five clues in each direction on a five-by-five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.

Unlike its larger counterpart, the NYT Small crossword puzzle is free to play on the New York Times website or the NYT Games app. However, you will need a NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.

NYT Small It’s a fun, everyday pastime that usually doesn’t take up much time. I try to beat the standard weekday grid in under a minute. But sometimes I can’t figure out a clue or two and have to reveal the answer.

To help you avoid this, here are some tips from the NYT Small Answers to the crossword puzzle (Of course, there are spoilers below.):

An interesting puzzle that surprised me in places, but I certainly wouldn’t say it was the hardest. I admit that my vocabulary doesn’t cover WERK in everyday life, so this one took me a while. I don’t like multi-word clues, and SODOI is actually three words for two, which is even worse. I thought a cube had 12 SIDES, not EDGES. I also mistook FLED for FLEE at the wrong time, which ruined the Beatles ROAD answer. Well, I finally figured it out.
