SingPost and Cainiao sign memorandum of understanding to strengthen logistics capabilities to leverage e-commerce growth in Southeast Asia

SINGAPORE, September 12, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) is a leading provider of postal and e-commerce logistics services in Asia and Pacificand Cainiao, a global leader in e-commerce logistics, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore strategic collaboration opportunities to support long-term growth Singapore cargo and logistics sectors. This collaboration will strengthen the logistics networks of both organizations to capture the growing eCommerce market in Southeast Asia.

According to Statista, the e-commerce market is expected to be worth 186 billion US dollars by 2025 compared to approx. 139 billion US dollars in 2023.(1) Singapore strategic location and world-class infrastructure make it an ideal place reloading a hub for the growing e-commerce sector in Asia. As the e-commerce industry continues to grow exponentially, the agreement will focus on the areas of optimising delivery costs and increasing volumes by leveraging Cainiao’s advanced technology solutions and SingPost’s extensive logistics network, leveraging shipment consolidation opportunities and optimising delivery routes.

Areas of cooperation include strengthening Singapore the role of a transshipment hub for air cargo, developing innovative postal products for China AND Southeast Asiaintegrating Cainiao technology to increase operational efficiency and enhance last-mile delivery capabilities Singapore and further.
