Dubai AI Security Policy: Paving the Way to a Digital Future

Dubai, a global leader in innovation and smart city development, is positioning itself as a pioneer in AI adoption. Under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the emirate is making rapid progress in its digital transformation, with AI playing a key role in this effort. A key aspect of Dubai’s AI strategy is ensuring the security of AI systems, and the Dubai Electronic Security Center is at the forefront of this effort.

AI Security Policies: Moving Confidently Into the Future

At the recent Dubai AI&Web3 festival in Dubai, HE Amer Sharaf, General Manager of Cyber Security Systems and Services at Dubai Electronic Security Center, emphasized the importance of establishing solid policies to safely navigate the changing AI landscape. “Dubai’s AI security policy is the first of its kind in the region,” noted Sharaf. “Our goal is to identify unique vulnerabilities in AI systems and establish best practices to ensure AI systems are resilient to emerging threats.”

Dubai’s AI security policy is built around three key pillars: ensuring data integrity, protecting critical infrastructure, and supporting ethical use of AI. The framework aims to protect the city’s rapidly growing AI ecosystem. As Sharaf notes, “AI systems will power much of Dubai’s future, from intelligent traffic management to autonomous healthcare services. But with this innovation comes the need for a secure foundation. Our framework aims to prevent risk while enabling growth.”
