Tata Power EV Charging Solutions, the renewable energy arm of Tata Power, and Tata Motors have signed a preliminary agreement to set up 200 fast charging stations for electric commercial vehicles across metropolitan cities, a statement said on Thursday.

As said in a statement, this strategic move expands the ongoing collaboration in providing sustainable mobility solutions, with a focus on easy charging solutions for small electric commercial vehicles.

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions under the MoU will set up 200 fast charging stations for electric commercial vehicles across all metropolitan cities, namely Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.

Tata Motors and Tata Power will offer exclusive charging tariffs to owners of Tata Motors electric commercial vehicles, which will translate into reduced operating costs and increased profitability for customers, the statement said.

Electric commercial vehicle users across the country will soon be able to benefit from access to almost 1,000 strategically placed fast chargers, thanks to a planned expansion of the charging network.

Vinay Pathak, Vice President and Business Head, SCV&PU, Tata Motors, said in a statement, “This partnership will also explore opportunities to maximise the use of renewable energy to make EV operation greener.”

Deepesh Nanda, CEO and MD, Tata Power Renewable Energy said in a statement, “This collaboration underlines our commitment to accelerate e-mobility by providing an extensive and reliable EV charging network across India.”

Tata Power has expanded its network under the EZ Charge brand to over 1,00,000 home chargers, over 5,500 public, semi-public and fleet charging points, and over 1,100 bus charging stations across 530 cities and towns.

These chargers have been strategically placed at various and easily accessible locations such as highways, hotels, shopping malls, hospitals, offices, residential complexes, etc.
