‘Flappy Bird’ to return to iPhone in 2024

“Flappy Bird” fans have spent more than a decade trying to bring the game back to mobile — and now the titular character will be back in 2024.

Flappy Bird was a wildly popular game that first hit the Apple App Store in the first half of 2013. It didn’t take long for the challenging arcade game to become the most downloaded free game on the iPhone, at its peak earning over $50,000 per day from advertising and in-app sales.

In January 2014 Flappy Bird flew to the Google Play store. But it didn’t stay there long.

However, on Thursday, FlappyBird.org announced that the game will return to mobile in 2024.

“Just a decade ago, I was the talk of the town and soaring to new heights with my 100 million friends,” the website reads. “Unfortunately, I had to leave the fame and limelight behind to come home and find out who I really am.”

“Thanks to my super Flappy Bird fans, I am refreshed, re-energized, and ready to take to the skies again,” he continues. “The decades of this mission have included obtaining legal clearances and even working with my predecessor to free me and re-draft official Flappy Bird game!”

In addition to bringing back the classic arcade mode, the refreshed version Flappy Bird The game will feature new game modes, including an easier mode, a basketball mode, and a battle royale-like mode.

There will also be new characters, including Trixie, Peng, Tekno, and Quirky, all with their own unique superpowers.

Flappy Bird There is no official release date. Both the website and trailer say it “should be coming soon” and suggest it will happen in 2024.
