Tata Power and Tata Motors to set up 200 fast charging stations for electric vehicles

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Ltd on September 12 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tata Motors Ltd to set up 200 fast charging stations for electric commercial vehicles.

Charging stations will be set up in major metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata to support the growth of electric vehicle (EV) adoption.

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Ltd is a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, trading as Tata Power. The collaboration focuses on ensuring seamless and accessible charging for small electric commercial vehicles (CVs).

At the time of writing, Tata Motors shares are trading at ₹996.80, up 1.08% from its previous close. Tata Motors has gained a total of 59% over the past year and almost 26% year-to-date.

Tata Motors and Tata Power will offer exclusive charging tariffs to owners of electric commercial vehicles, which will help reduce operating costs and increase profitability.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable mobility and the ease of introducing electric vehicle charging solutions in commercial vehicles.

Vinay Pathak, Vice President, Tata Motors, emphasised that the objective of this collaboration is to enhance the electric commercial vehicle market with convenient fast chargers across India.

Tata Power’s EZ Charge network comprises over 100,000 home chargers, over 5,500 public and semi-public charging points and over 1,100 bus charging stations across 530 cities and towns.

Deepesh Nanda, CEO, Tata Power Renewable Energy, highlighted the company’s efforts to extend its EV charging network to the commercial vehicle segment to provide integrated charging solutions.
