In short

  • Pixel 9 users are having trouble with missing notifications.
  • Notifications from Nest devices through the Google Home app appear to be broken.
  • Removing and reinstalling the application may resolve the issue, but it is not a foolproof solution.

Delayed notifications have been a problem on Pixel phones for a while now, but it looks like Google’s latest flagships have a whole new kind of notification problem. A bug is causing some notifications to fail to arrive on Pixel 9 phones at all.

While many members of our team have reported receiving delayed notifications on their Pixel 9 series phones, multiple Reddit threads and discussion in the Google community now suggest that Google Home notifications from Nest devices are completely broken for many users. This means that if you have a connected Nest device, such as a doorbell or camera, you may suddenly stop seeing notifications from those devices after switching to a Pixel 9 series phone. 9to5Google also reported the issue on their Pixel 9 Pro Fold device.

It’s not a good look for Google, which is already struggling to fix the delayed notification issue that affects many Pixel models. However, there may be a temporary solution to this particular Google Home notifications issue that’s broken.

Some users report that clearing the Google Home app’s data and cache, deleting it, and reinstalling it fixes the issue. However, this method doesn’t seem to work for everyone. You can also try turning on/off notifications for the Google Home app in the settings, but there’s no surefire way to fix the issue. Hopefully, Google comes up with a big fix in a Google Home app update or phones in general.
