Apple’s recent “It’s Glowtime” event showcased the iPhone 16 series, highlighting its AI capabilities. However, Apple Intelligence features won’t be available in the iPhone 16 lineup until October, and some features will be delayed even further.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users, however, can start using these features via the iOS 18.1 developer beta. Here’s how to install the iOS 18.1 developer beta to get early access to Apple Intelligence features.

iOS 18.1 Developer Beta
iOS 18.1 developer beta 3 gives you early access to Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools, Notification Summaries, Focus Mode with Minimized Interruptions, and Cleanup.

This beta version, intended for developers, offers a preview of new features before their public release. Please note that developer betas are less stable than official releases, so they are not recommended for everyday use.

How to install
Since this is a beta version of the software and is mainly intended for developers and debuggers, the operating system will not be as stable as the standard version. Users can expect some bugs and strange behavior, but overall, the beta version is quite stable. However, before installing any beta version, it is necessary to back up your device. Regardless of the software you are using, beta builds can be unstable and may cause problems.

If you still wish to continue, please follow these steps.

  1. Join the Apple Developer Program: To download the beta, you must be a member of the Apple Developer Program. Visit Apple Developer’s and sign in with your Apple ID. If you are not already a member, you must accept the Apple Developer Agreement to join.

  2. Download the beta software: Once you’re logged in, head over to the developer beta section. You can download iOS 18.1 developer beta 3 from there.

  3. Install Beta via Settings: On your iPhone, go to the Settings app, then choose General, and tap Software Update. You should see a developer beta update available for installation. Follow the instructions to install it as you would any other software update.

If you are short on space, you can use a Mac to install the beta. First, download the iOS 18.1 beta restore image from the Apple Developer website. Connect your iPhone to your Mac, open Finder, and select your device in the Locations section. Hold down the Option key, click “Check For Update,” and select the downloaded iOS 18.1 beta restore image.

Before you go any further…
We can’t stress this enough, Beta software may be buggy and may affect the performance of your iPhone. It is intended for developers to test new features and adjust their apps accordingly, so regular users need to be very, very careful.

If this seems too risky for you, or you’re really scared of the process and are worried about voiding your warranty, wait for the stable release of iOS 18.1 in October when Apple Intelligence features become more widely available.
