SnowDome charged after boy’s death

An indoor ski resort has been charged over the death of a 12-year-old boy.

Louis Watkiss died on 24 September 2021 at the SnowDome in Tamworth, Staffordshire. He was with friends at a luge event when he crashed.

A man was also injured in the incident, which involved a member of staff at the ski resort, according to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The HSE has announced that it has charged SnowDome Limited with breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Louis’ parents, Chris and Natalie, from Sutton Coldfield, previously said they received a call about the accident and initially thought it was just a minor injury.

However, they said, their son was pronounced dead at the center.

The first hearing in the case is due to take place on October 9 at Telford District Court.
