Abu Dhabi Judicial Branch Celebrates International Law Day

ABU DHABI, 13 September 2024 (WAM) – The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) participated in the celebration of International Law Day, which falls on 13 September every year, to highlight the role of law in protecting rights and ensuring the fulfilment of duties and obligations in a manner that contributes to the preservation of justice and equality, and to ensuring security and stability in society.

On this occasion, the Judicial Department organised a series of educational activities and events focused on raising legal awareness and introducing new laws, in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Judicial Department of Abu Dhabi, by increasing knowledge and spreading legal awareness among members of the public.

Counselor Yousef Saeed Alabri, Undersecretary of the ADJD, said: “The UAE has established a world-leading legislative, legal and judicial system that keeps pace with all changes and developments in various sectors to perpetuate the rule of law, achieve justice and protect rights, in a way that supports its competitive position in terms of global indicators based on the sound vision of our wise leadership to ensure sustainable development and modernization in the light of a forward-looking approach to the future.”

He added: “With this in mind, we participate in the celebration of International Law Day, which falls on 13 September every year, to reaffirm the importance of upholding the rule of law, given its active and essential role in building security and stability in societies, and to ensure that all members of society ensure that their rights are respected in all aspects of life.”

Counsellor Ali Mohammed Al Balushi, Attorney General of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, stressed that International Law Day conveys an important message about the role that laws play in preserving order, promoting stability and protecting the rights of people in various contexts, thus helping to create an integrated system that supports sustainable development, within a fair and efficient legal and judicial system.

He stressed that the UAE attaches great importance to establishing the rule of law. To this end, it keeps up with the latest laws and regulations and works to ensure that they are applied and implemented in a manner consistent with the most modern systems in various sectors. This has improved the country’s competitiveness both domestically and internationally.
