Source – Marquise Brown to undergo surgery, placed on injured list

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown will undergo surgery on a strained sternoclavicular muscle and will be placed on the injured reserve list, a source confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

Brown, who missed the Chiefs’ season-opening victory over the Baltimore Ravens, will miss at least the next four games, including Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium.

Brown, the Chiefs’ top free agent signing of the offseason, suffered a dislocated shoulder after catching a pass on the first play of Kansas City’s preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 10.

Rashee Rice was the Chiefs’ leading wide receiver against the Ravens with seven catches for 103 yards. Rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy scored two touchdowns, one on an end around.

Brown, 27, played five seasons in the NFL before joining the Chiefs: three with the Ravens and two with the Arizona Cardinals. His best season came in Baltimore in 2021, when he caught 91 passes for 1,008 yards.

Last season with the Cardinals he caught 51 passes for 574 yards.

NFL reporter Jordan Schultz was the first to report that Brown had been placed on the injured reserve list and was planning surgery.
