AWS selects 7 Indian startups for its GenAI program – Digital Transformation News

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has selected seven Indian startups for its global generative AI accelerator program. The startups — Convrse, House of Models, Neural Garage, Orbo.ai, Phot.ai, Unscript AI, and Zocket — are among 80 global companies selected for their innovative use of AI and potential for international growth.

This is the highest representation from a single country in the Asia Pacific region for the program, which is part of AWS’s $230 million commitment to accelerate global application development using AI technologies. These startups will also have the opportunity to showcase their solutions at the AWS re:Invent event in Las Vegas.

The program provides select companies with up to $1 million in AWS credits that can be used across the full suite of AWS technologies, including AWS compute, storage, and database services. Participants also get access to AWS Trainium and AWS Inferentia2, energy-efficient AI chips that offer high performance at a low cost, and Amazon SageMaker for building and training AI models.

Amitabh Nagpal, Head of Startup Business Development at AWS India, said, “These selected startups are at the forefront of leveraging the transformative power of generative AI to create innovative solutions that solve complex problems not only in India but across the world.”

The Indian startups selected for the program offer a range of AI solutions across industries. Convrse optimizes complex 3D objects to make them web-ready or real-time, while House of Models uses AI to generate digital content for brands, including images, videos, and product descriptions. Neural Garage enhances the film and broadcast experience by using AI to lip-sync actors to voiceovers.

Meanwhile, Orbo.ai offers hyper-personalization and contextual search solutions for the beauty and personal care sector. Phot.ai offers an all-in-one platform that simplifies photo editing and graphic design for e-commerce applications. Unscript AI creates studio-quality videos with real or virtual actors, eliminating the need for physical photo shoots.

Finally, Zocket uses generative AI to enhance digital advertising through improved ad creation, targeting, and analytics, making it easier to effectively manage campaigns for businesses of all sizes.

The program also includes mentoring and educational resources to further enhance startups’ AI and machine learning adoption. Additionally, NVIDIA, as a presenting partner, provides technology and technical sessions to support startups’ development efforts.

The growth of AI in India is further underscored by recent industry data. According to PitchBook Data, Inc., AI and machine learning companies in India are set to attract over $82 billion in investment in 2024 alone. However, given that only 35% of AI companies maintain offices outside the country where they are headquartered, the global expansion of these companies presents a significant growth opportunity.

Brendan Burke, Senior Analyst, Emerging Technology Research, PitchBook, said: “Generative AI companies based in the Asia-Pacific region raised over $2.5 billion in 2024, more than in the previous three years combined. Developers and startups are seizing the opportunity to train custom models based on unique cultural and linguistic data, paving the way for specialized applications across domains.
