Jharkhand: PM Modi virtually dispatches six Vande Bharat trains – Railways News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday virtually inaugurated six Vande Bharat Express trains that were to run on key routes in Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The event, initially scheduled at Tatanagar railway station, was moved online as poor visibility and inclement weather prevented the Prime Minister’s helicopter from taking off.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar were present at the ceremony at Tatanagar station.

Expanded Connectivity and Industry Growth

The newly introduced trains will run on the Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah and Gaya-Howrah routes. The Prime Minister’s Office said the trains are expected to significantly improve connectivity for regular commuters, business travellers, professionals and students.

Apart from reducing travel time, the Vande Bharat Express trains will promote religious tourism by providing more efficient transport to pilgrimage sites including Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar, Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and Kalighat and Belur Math in Kolkata.

The initiative is also expected to boost key industries across the region. The coal and mining sectors in Dhanbad, jute industry in Kolkata and iron and steel sectors in Durgapur are set to benefit from improved transport infrastructure, according to an official statement.
