How to Transfer Data from Android to iPhone

Apple has just released the new iPhone 16 series with a number of improvements, including a larger screen, new buttons — the Action Button and Camera Button — Apple Intelligence support across the range, and powerful A18 chips. While the series encourages iPhone users to upgrade to the next generation, many Android users are also planning to move to iOS to experience the new software, and this step-by-step guide is just for them.

Switching from Android to iPhone may seem like a pain, but it’s not. Apple offers a dedicated “Switch to iOS” app for users planning to make the switch. This app allows users to wirelessly transfer data—such as photos, contacts, messages, and more—from their Android device to their new iPhone. Let’s take a detailed step-by-step look at the process of switching to iPhone without losing any important data.

Before you start the transfer from Android to iOS

Before starting the data transfer, please do the following:

– Make sure your Android device is connected to Wi-Fi and updated to the latest version of Android. Similarly, turn on your new iPhone and make sure it’s updated to the latest version of iOS.

– Both devices should be connected to a power source throughout the transfer.

– Make sure your new iPhone has enough space for your Android phone’s data. If necessary, free up some space or decide which files to keep or store in the cloud.

To transfer data from Android to iPhone

Once your devices are ready:

– On your Android device, go to the Google Play Store and search for the app “Move to iOS.” Download and install it.

– Turn on your new iPhone and begin initial setup. When you get to the “Apps & Data” screen, select Transfer Data from Android.

– On your Android device, open the Move to iOS app and tap Continue. Make sure both devices are plugged in and close to each other.

– Your iPhone will display a one-time code, either six or ten digits long. Enter this code on your Android device.

– Your iPhone will create a temporary Wi-Fi network. Join this network from your Android phone when prompted and wait for the transfer screen to appear.

– On your Android phone, you’ll see a list of the types of data you can transfer, including contacts, messages, photos, videos, and more. Select the items you want to transfer, then tap Next to begin the transfer process. Depending on the size of your data, this process may take some time. Don’t interrupt the process—leave your devices alone until it’s finished.

Note: Only apps that are available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store will be transferred during the transfer. Once the process is complete, you can download all other apps from the App Store. Additionally, music, books, and PDFs are not transferred via Move to iOS. You will need to manually transfer these files via iTunes or other methods after the transfer.

After moving from Android to iOS

Once the transfer is complete, follow the on-screen instructions to complete iPhone setup. Also, check to make sure all contacts, messages, and media have been successfully transferred. If something is missing, you may need to manually transfer certain files.

If you encounter any issues during the Android to iOS conversion process:

– Restart both devices and try the transfer again. – Make sure both devices are connected to Wi-Fi and disable any settings, such as Smart Network Switch, that may interfere with the transfer. – Turn off mobile data on your Android device during the transfer.
