Eli Manning wants to annoy Tom Brady by becoming a Wrexham fan

Wrexham have signed two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning as a fan ahead of Monday’s League One clash with Birmingham City, in which legendary playmaker Tom Brady has a 3.3% stake.

The club announced the news on their Instagram account on Friday, posting: “We are honoured that @elimanning has coincidentally (as co-chairs @robmcelhenney and @vancityreynolds asked him to) joined the @Wrexham_AFC fan base ahead of our match at @TomBrady’s @BCFC on Monday night.”

Manning commented: “Now I can beat @tombrady at football and soccer! Go @wrexham_afc!”

Manning, 43, played for the New York Giants for 16 years and led the team to Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI victories over Brady’s New England Patriots. He is also a “strategic investor” in NWSL team NJ/NY Gotham FC.

Monday’s clash at St Andrew’s in Birmingham, England will see two unbeaten teams in League One face off. Wrexham are top of the third tier of English football with four wins and one draw, while Birmingham have played four matches and have three wins and one draw.

The match has been unofficially dubbed the ‘Hollywood Derby’ as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham will take on Brady’s Birmingham.
