Rapides Parish Republican Executive Committee Hosts Annual Reagan Dinner

ALEXANDRIA, LA (KALB) – On Saturday, September 15, the Rapides Republican Executive Committee (RRPEC) held its annual Reagan Dinner at the Riverfront Center in Alexandria.

Speakers included Attorney General Liz Murrill, Secretary of State Nancy Landry and state Treasurer John Fleming.

Also in attendance was Elbert Guillory, who recently won the endorsement of the Louisiana Republican Party and is the only Republican candidate in Louisiana’s new sixth congressional district.

Each speaker shared his vision for Louisiana’s future.

RRPEC Chairman Randy Wiggins said he was grateful to the speakers for coming to meet with the people of Cenla.

“We want them to know that Central Louisiana is on the map, we don’t want to be just a passing through,” Wiggins said. “We want them to come here and know that we’re involved and working.”

Ticket prices for the dinner ranged from $100 per plate to $1,200 for a table. Wiggins said RRPEC hopes to raise $25,000 to $30,000 from the dinner.

He added that the money would go toward more events, like the Reagan dinner, where voters could hear directly from candidates and officials.

Wiggins said strong Republican leadership is needed in Louisiana now more than ever.

“When our federal government tries to impose woke ideas and influence our way of life, we can appeal to our states’ rights,” Wiggins said. “We have strong leadership under the Constitution, and that’s what we want to do.”

Wiggins added that he hopes today’s youth will become more involved in political activities and that RRPEC will sponsor a Young Republicans club.

“We’re going to take Republican conservative ideas to all those people who want to get involved and give them a voice,” Wiggins said. “And give them the opportunity to be involved in all the things we do.”
