Professor Layton’s ‘Lost’ game, which was released in Japan only 16 years ago, has received an unofficial translation after being discovered on an old phone

While fans are waiting for Professor Layton and the New World of Steam After 16 years, a long-forgotten title from the beloved puzzle game series has been rediscovered.

Professor Layton and the Mansion of the Deathly Mirror was first released as a mobile exclusive in Japan in 2008. The game was re-released just a year later, but it was never released overseas, with entire chapters lost to time—until now. A self-proclaimed “gaming security guard,” known online as Yuvi I discovered the entire game on an old cell phone “that looked like it had survived a house fire.”
