Italian investment flows into UK defence and steel sectors

During a visit to Rome, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer revealed that Italian companies intend to pump more than £500 million into the UK economy.

Among the major donors is defence company Leonardo, which is committing £435m to its Yeovil facility and research projects across the country. This significant investment will boost helicopter production and support innovation in the UK.

In addition, steel giant Marcegaglia is investing £100m to build a new, clean-arc furnace in Sheffield, an investment that could revolutionise steelmaking in the north of England.
