Manitoba Weather: Tornado Warning Cancelled for Southeast Manitoba

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has cancelled the tornado warning for parts of southeastern Manitoba.

The weather agency issued warnings for the RM of Reynolds shortly after 4pm on Monday.

“Environment Canada meteorologists are forecasting a severe thunderstorm that could develop into a tornado,” the ECCC warning reads.

The storm was located about 10 kilometers west of Hadashville and was moving east at 50 km/h, according to the ECCC.

During the storm, hail the size of a quarter may fall, and wind speeds may exceed 90 km/h.

“This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation,” the ECCC said.

If a tornado occurs, the ECCC recommends going to a room on the lowest level of a building, away from exterior walls and windows. If possible, leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents and trailers and move to a solid building. As a last resort, you should lie down in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris.
