CNN anchor clearly irritated by GOP congressman’s defense of Vance’s immigration conspiracy theories

Republican Rep. Tom Emmer refused to directly address JD Vance’s baseless conspiracy theories about Haitian immigrants in Ohio when asked about them multiple times on CNN Monday morning, irritating anchor Kate Bolduan with the exchange.

Bolduan pointed out to the Minnesota congressman that Vance admitted over the weekend that he had no problem repeating a false story about immigrants in his state allegedly eating pets — even though the Republican governor of Ohio has called the conspiracies harmful and “disgusting.”

“Does this constant concentration and digging by your candidates create a problem for you in the downvote?” Bolduan asked.

Emmer completely avoided answering the question.

“This story is really about an agenda — an illegal agenda, I would say — created by Kamala Harris and Joe Biden,” Emmer said.

According to city officials, many Haitians are in Springfield, Ohio, legally under federal temporary protected status.

“It was put on hold because of all kinds of fraud. And listen, Kate, if you don’t want to talk about the Cuban-Haitian-Nicaraguan-Cuban-Venezuelan program that was created by Kamala Harris and Joe Biden that brought tens of thousands of migrants into this country,” Emmer continued as Bolduan interjected.

“You can talk about these policies without making history,” she said, noting the bomb threats against schools, government offices and hospitals that were fueled by the language of Vance and Donald Trump, who failed to condemn the threats when given the opportunity.

Bolduan repeated the question, but Emmer again did not answer.

“The problem is that the mainstream media refuses to provide a reason for this incident,” he said, prompting the CNN anchor to dismiss his response.

“No, no, no, no, no,” she said. “You and I talk about politics all the time. But in this case, let’s leave the bad stuff and get to politics!”

Emmer continued to discuss something.

“How about we talk about what’s wrong? What’s wrong is that we have an administration that’s illegitimate,” he said, leaving Bolduan with virtually no choice but to believe Emmer was okay with Vance’s deliberately false claims about Ohioans, who spent Monday night preaching the need to “love our neighbors.”

“If this story about eating pets is completely wrong and untrue, are you okay with this story continuing and your candidate continuing to talk about it?” she asked.

Emmer’s response was much the same: “I hope you start reporting on the problem that’s causing all of this, which is the administration. Kamala Harris is responsible for thousands of migrants coming here wrongly because they’re lying on their applications.”

When Bolduan asked him whether he would answer “yes” or “no”, Emmer continued talking.

“Congressman,” she concluded, “the inability to answer yes or no to a simple question kind of takes away from the point of discussing this policy.”

“Well, I would love for you to talk about the actual policies that the Biden administration has created,” Emmer pressed.

“We will do it,” replied Bolduan, “once you can answer yes or no.”

Emmer kicked in again, and Bolduan sighed in exasperation as he ended the interview.
